August is such a wonderful time in the bike industry. With the Tour de France and the European Summer come bike expo’s and product launches for 2011. Only yesterday we were treated to the new 2011 Giant Performance range and Pinarello have given us a first look at their new bikes for 2011.
With AusbikeExpo (Aug 21-23) getting bigger every year, it is clearly an indication that cycling is here and it is big. The wholesalers have recognized the need to offer more to consumers, be pro-active in promoting their products and deliver the public the same as what our European friends receive. No longer shall Australia be a back-water for limited product options and long waiting periods, and let’s be honest, the main rival to it all is the Internet and the speed and price at which the big web-shops can deliver product to our door. As a local bike shop we realized this a long time ago and we have tried to keep our prices in line with what’s on the web. We can’t always do it, but we will always try to give the best prices possible. Yep, 2011 is going to be a massive year, from late September the World Championships, the SKCC Summer Crit’s at Port Melbourne, the Aussie Road Champs’ and of course the TDU in Adelaide.
Lezyne are a fairly new player in the essential accessory cycling market. The quality and finish of their products are first rate, strong, light, practical and above all, cost effective. We really like their pumps, as they are more like the pumps of old, pumps that are easy to use and don’t rip valves to pieces or slip off when you get to 60psi. Yep, a good ole’ fashioned noodle neck pump end that does Schrader and presta, the road drive claims pressure up to 160psi, which is really a quality 110psi, and not many pumps can do that without driving you mad. Nice one Lezyne!
Our inaugural Pinarello FP3 demo rides were an unbelievable success. Thank you to all the participants and we hope to see you again. We really enjoyed being able to offer the chance to test ride one of these fantastic bikes, and for some, it was their first time on a serious road bike (not a bad bike to start out on). The feedback received from all the riders on how these bikes performed exceeded our expectation with the key points being stiffness, comfort and stability.
We are now excited to offer to the public the ex-demo models in varying sizes available at a reduced price (limited sizes). All ex-demo bikes come with full manufacturer warranty as well as our 1 year unlimited free servicing period. The most these bikes have been ridden ranges from 50 to 200kms and all are in still in as new condition. At these prices they won’t last long, so if you want the chance to grab one of these great bikes, or would like more information on this offer, please give us a call, email or drop in to the store for a chat.
FP3 Ultegra - $3750 * FP3 Athena - $4150

The final stage of the Tour de FP3 was again a great success. Again, a flurry of attacks out of Black Rock split the group before a regrouping at Mordi. Fantastic weather, great company, great bike.
Cheap FP3's anyone?

Windy conditions put pressure on the bunch in the 3rd stage of our Tour de FP3. After a steady tempo down to Black Rock the attacks started, with Rickets Point being the launch pad for those who wanted to up the pace. Comments from the chase group were that, given the wind, it was best to save the legs, and not chase down the break. Alas, once we turned and began the course home, the headwind shattered the group. We rolled back to PMC in 3 groups, all satisfied we made it, or perhaps just to be out of the wind.
Another enjoyable ride.

JULY 2010

With the sun on our backs and a nice tail wind on the way down to Mordi, the 2nd installment of our Tour De FP3 was a great ride. We couldn't have asked for better winter riding weather and I got the feeling everyone was enjoying being out amongst it. The FP3's rolled smoothly, again the stability of these bikes is what sets them apart from the many of the fickle unpredictable carbon frames currently on the market.
A real joy to ride!

Our Inaugural Pinarello FP3 demo ride was a great success. Thank you to all the participants for braving the weather and getting out to enjoy the smooth handling of a Pinarello FP3 race bike.
It was great to see cycling enthusiasts out enjoying a nice easy tempo and a good chat.
Hopefully the weather stays fine for the next few Sundays!
