The Pinarello FP Team (Ultegra R8000) features the Shimano Ultegra R8000 groupset and Fulcrum Racing Sport wheels.
The Pinarello FPTeam is the perfect bike to start pedalling at the next level. The FP Team combines many of the features of the high end race machines with the more affordable carbon models and makes use of a new geometry for a more accessible machine with regards to fitting.
Like the Dogma, Paris and Quattro above it, the FP Team uses both the Onda rear triangle and front forks for an agile yet stable feel. The use of a tapered headtube with 11/8″ – 11/2″ headset makes for a highly stable front end that purveys superb control but with direct steering feel for an easy to control bike. The Onda rear triangle gives superb acceleration whilst still providing a comfortable platform without the skittish feel often found on bikes with stiff rear triangles. This is a racer that accelerates smoothly, transmitting your pedalling forces through the bike in balanced order allowing you to glide along – your mind firmly on the job in hand and never fighting the bike.
The Pinarello FP Team shares its geometry with the FP Uno and varies from the bulk of the Pinarello family – many of the models in the range have some smaller sizes which have sloping frames but the FP Team bikes ALL feature a sloping top tube and geometries to match. Ultimately this means that Pinarello can create fewer frames, each with a wider range of rider sizes that a particular size is able to accomodate. In addition, the smaller front and rear triangles formed as a result (apart from looking superb) give a tighter more racy feel that you would expect at higher price points and which is often lost when lower grades of carbon are used in frame production.
That is not to say that the carbon being used here is low grade, rather that is lower than that used in Pinarellos flag-ship models. It is Japanese Torayca fibre – the industry benchmark – and at 30 tonnes per cm3 of breaking force (30HM), the FP Team, like the ROKH and Quattro is a strong, stiff frame that will serve the budding racer and Gran Fondo rider alike. The finishing weave is a 12K (the second part of the carbon nomenclature) and is shared with the FP Due.
The FP Team has been developed to introduce the look and ride feel of Pinarello’s more prestigious race models and is a superb choice for the rider looking to start racing. Equally though it will be as at home on those long rides out and club runs.
