Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 Carbon SPD-SL Road Pedals

The Shimano 9000 Carbon Dura Ace SPD-SL Pedals set new precedents for width and stability in the road pedal market, making them undoubtably the most efficient pedal on the market.

Firstly, the pedals feature a wider fit positioning adjustability in order to create a more stable platform than what was available with previous pedal systems. Additionally, the new PD9000 comes with a new style of cleat, the SM-SH12. These factors combine to create a more extensive platform for power transfer, while at the same time providing an increased level of comfort. And in addition to the wide design, Shimano offer an optional spindle with a 4mm increased length -- an ideal option for those who prefer a wider Q-factor.

Shimano has gone to great lengths to redesign the definition of comfort with the 9000 pedals. The principals of the cleat retention system are centered on a front/center pivoting system. And within this new design, the SM-SH12 cleat plays a pivotal role. This is because the interaction between the cleat and pedal limits toe movement and lateral play by restricting float to +/- one degree. So, the system basically corrects your bad habits before they happen. Together, this will minimize knee strain, hot spots, and contribute to absolute efficiency.

The spring-loaded tension adjustment is one factor that remains unchanged from previous Dura-Ace pedal systems. This feature is accessible at the rear of the pedal, and is able to dial-in your preference for the difficulty of cleat exit. For durability, you'll find that the pedals continue with the usage of a stainless steel top plate.

The Shimano PD-9000 SPD-SL Pedals come with a set of SM-SH12 floating cleats and all of the necessary mounting hardware.
